Study Trip to the Low Countries organized by the Department of Dutch and Afrikaans
The Department of Dutch and Afrikaans will organize a multiculturalism-oriented study trip for its students to the Netherlands and Belgium (April 25th - May 6th). The trip has been made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Dutch Language Union and a minor contribution from the participating students. It is organized in cooperation with the Departments of Dutch of the Universities of Budapest, Olomouc and Brno.
The programme fits into the framework of research into the multicultural societies of the Low Countries. Some of its highlights include:
- Cities such as Antwerp, Ghent and Amsterdam where guides will accompany us to give information on their history. In addition, some renowned sociologists will introduce us to the issues of contemporary migration.
- A visit to the European Parliament in Brussels with a Dutch-speaking guide.
- A literary evening in the presence of Dutch writers and poets of foreign descent.
- Queens’s Day in Amsterdam.
Participating students will be given a series of tasks prior to, in the course of and following the study trip. Their results will be published on the website: http://wa.amu.edu.pl/dutchafrikaans/
