One of the special events at this year's PLM will be a presentation of the Routledge Dictionary of Pronunciation for Current English by one of its authors, Prof. William Kretzschmar. The event will take place at 17:00–17:30 on Monday, 18 September, in Room C1 at Novum. If you are interested in English pronunciation, you simply have to be there! Read more.
Prof. Kretzschmar (University of Georgia) is the keynote speaker of PLM2017. His keynote plenary talk will discuss language as a complex system. However, he is also the co-author (with Clive Upton) of the Routledge Dictionary of Pronunciation for Current English. This is effectively the second edition of the former Oxford Dictionary of Pronunciation for Current English, the third major pronunciaton pronunciation dictionary, after Longman and Cambridge.
You can learn more about the dictionary from the publisher's webpage. A preview is available on Google Books. A free sample can be obtained from Google Play Books.
All prounciation geeks are warmly invited!
