Guest Lecture: Rufus Gouws
In
March, professor Rufus Gouws, head of the Department of Dutch and
Afrikaans at Stellenbosch University, visited us in Poznań. He gave a
guest lecture entitled 'On the position of Afrikaans as language and as
study field', where he shared some very interesting and optimistic
views and statistics about the language within the broader South
African context.
We
were fortunate enough to host another South African as the next day,
professor Daan Prinsloo from the University of Pretoria lectured on
'Lexicographic traditions and lemmatisation problems in Bantu
languages'.
Here
are some pictures from the day.
