Sheweth that your Memorialist /
having had the misfortune to lose his /
Wife and Three Children on his Pas+sage to /
this Colony and being left with Four others /
the Eldest of whom just Nine Years Old, feels /
himself quite inadequate to the important /
charge of attending to their Education, he /
therefore humbly intreats your Excellency’s /
Permis+sion to proceed to Cape Town for the purpose /
of Endevouring to find some proper Person to place /
his unfortunate Children with, or of returning /
with them to England, and your Memorialist /
as in duty bound will ever pray /
