Memorialist purchased on 25.\th/ of /
February 1822 Stock to the amount /
of Eighteen hundred and Seventy four /
Rix dollars, // as per Receipt //, _ That on /
the 3\rd/ of March 1823, the Caffres /
took away Twelve hundred Rix dollars /
worth of the said Cattle. which los+s /
Memorialist still labours under _ /
Memorialist Oxen used to work /
on the Road from Port Elizabeth /
to Grahams to convey Goods; which /
labour returned from three to four /
hundred Rixdollars per quarter _ /
In consequence of the above los+s /
by the Caffres Memorialist was /

was under the neces+sity of selling a /
Waggon at Two hundred Rix dollars /
under prime Cost. _ Thus, the los+s /
of the labour of the Oxen and Waggons /
of the increase and produce of the /
Cows, together with los+s in the Sale /
of the Waggons will in reality make /
at the present time a difficientcy /
to Memorialist of between two and /
three Thousand Rix dollars . _ /
Memorialist sincerely trust your /
Excellency will be pleased to view /
it in this light and Grant him /
some remuneration _ /
