Campbell, Mary Harriet (w. Of Charles)

Bonville Park /
January 27\th/. 1823 /
My Lord, /
Your Lordship will excuse the /
liberty I am taking as your Lordship must be /
fully aware of the situation I am in at /
present Immediately after the demise of /
Mayor Gen\l/ Campbell the whole of the property /
was taken pos+ses+sion of by the Captain Chamour /
which property was Sold in August last and /
from the time the property was removed for /
sale, which included my Stock of provisions /
also I have been destitute of any means /
of maintenance for my numerous family /
consisting of thirteen persons I have two /
Children at school but know not by /
what means the expense will be /
defrayed I have made repeated /
applications to the Gofham Masters for /
>
as+sistance stating at the same time my /
situation but have only obtained the sum /
of one hundred Rix Dollars to defray my /
heavy expenses for the space of nine Months /
My Letters Latterly to the Gofham Masters /
have been treated with silent contemplation /
and indignity. _ Your Lordship is aware /
I have property in England but /
I am informed I cannot draw on it /
as I have not yet administered to the /
Will nor can the property in this /
Colony be adjusted until we obtain /
a Copy of the Will which was made /
and left in England . /
I have therefore to solicit your /
Lordship kindly to interfere on my /
behalf and oblige the Gentlemen /
of the Gofham {Masters} Chamber /
>
to allow me support for myself and /
family until matters can be finally /
adjusted I need not mention to your /
Lordship that I am a female stranger /
destitute of a single Male protection /
and that I am still on my Location /
I remain your /
Lordship obedient Servant /
M.H. Campbell /
