To His Excellency the Right Honble Lord
Charles Henry Somerset &c &c &c and Council
The Memorial of Jane Erith humbly sheweth
that on the 6 Instant Memorialist received an
Answer in the Negative to that part of her
Memorials of September 19 26 and Oct 3
Respecting her Passage to England by the
Espiegle but had her prayer been granted her health
is Now in Such a debilitated State that it
will be impossible for her to undertake the
Care of her four Children (for So long a Voyage)
for at least 3 Weeks or a Month Memorialist
has therefore to pray that should the other
Government Ship now in Simons Bay
be dispatched about that time and her
health continue to improve Memorialist
and her Family may be permitted to
Return to England by it or any other as
Soon as possible_ Memorialist cannot
forbear Remarking that no Answer is returned
by your Excellency & Council to the other
part of her Memorials a Silence for which
Memorialist is totally at a loss to account
Your Excellency and Council must Suppose
that a Family of 4 Children and as Sick
Mother as a Burden of no Small weight and
The Philanthropy of the Individuals whose
Income
income is only attained by their own
Industrious exertions the feelings of Memorialist
alive therefore to their disinterested goodness
and humanity wishes to Reimburse to them
their debt of kindness as soon as possible
a procrastination of which Memorialist
earnestly request considering the Colonial Govmnt
are in possession of a Sufficiency of her
Property may not be Retarded longer than
Memorialist is enabled to leave her
Habitation _ Should the health of _
Memorialist Keep improving She hopes
to be to Reach as far as the Colonial Office
the latter end of the Week when she humbly
intreats Your Excellency and Council will
be pleased to order her affairs to be finally
arranged as it will take some time Situated
as Memorialist as with her Family to
prepare for so long a Voyage
Memorialist therefore humbly Requests from
Your Excellency and Council an early
full and explicit Reply ___
And Memorialist as in duty bound
Will ever pray _
