The Memorial of Jane Erith Sheweth
That Memorialist on the 26 Ultimo Addressed
your Excellency and Council noticing
the State of her health, the State of her Finances,
and her wish to leave as soon as possible
with her Family for England, to which
No Answer has been returned ___
Memorialist has to state to your Excellency
and Council that on the 27 Ult it was
thought necessary (by the Inmates of the House)
to call in Medical Advice; (24 Hours Notice
having been given to the District Doctor
Who did Not attend)
Memorialist has to express the Kindness and
attention she has experienced from Persons
in the Same dwelling (to her entire Strangers)
while in Bed of Sickness in feeding her
4 Children reimbursing Money for Medicine
in Short under Medical Aid. She considers
herself indebted to them alone for a
protracted Existence, at the same time
your Excellency has been made acquainted
by repeated applications, that since
the 16 Ultimo Memorialist had no Finances
of her own to depend upon, and the
Colonial Governement at the most –
Moderate
Moderate Calculation not less debeted to the
Husband of Memorialist than 481 Rds ___
at the same Moment her Children and self
Suffered to want as also that applications
had been made by two Gentlemen on the
part of her Children to His Majesty Fiscal
during the time She Was Wholly confined
to her Bed, but was told that Nothing could be
done _ _ _ Memorialist has therefore to Request
that as soon as pronounced Convalescence your
Excellency and Council will be pleased
to order her affairs to be Settled. That She
May be enabled to discharge her debt of
Obligation &c and that herself and Family
May be allowed to Return to her Native
Shores. by the first Government Vessel bound
to that Country according to your Excellencys
and councils promise of the 16 of August
Memorialist not knowing the most distant
prospect of Husbands Return to the
Cape of Good Hope for which Memorialist
as in duty bound
