The Memorial of
Daniel Flinn Settler
of Mr Smiths Party and
Pensioner from the 61
Regt of Foot
Humbly sheweth
That Your Memorialist
Having come to this Colony under
the expectation of supporting himself
and family by Agriculture
with the assistance of his Pension
yet through the failure of Crops
and the Flood of 1823 Your
Memorialist has been compelled
to leave his Location and live
in Grahams Town and with
the
the little means he had Left
purchased two Building Lots of
Ground situated in this Town
Your Memorialist therefore
prays Your Excellency will be
graciously pleased to grant
him a Loan of Five Hundred
Rix Dollars to enable him to
build a House upon the Ground
he has bought. _
Your Memorialist begs to state
that he fought in this Countrys
Cause under the
Sir R Abere
and on the day which he received
his Death Wound Your Memorialist
lost his Leg and your Memorialist
therefore hopes Your Excellency
will take his Case into consideration
And
And as in duty bound will
ever pray
