liberty I have taking in thus addressing you _
My daughter is on board the Ship Sappho now lying
In Simons Bay with four small children the eldest
only six years old which it would have been totaly
out of her power to have taken care of them herself, and
my Son which is the only child I have living and now
become a Settler in this country I have taken care of
his family during his absence which has reduced
me so that I am not able to pay my passage up the
Country _ I sold every thing to get here as my Son wrote
me to come with his family. knowing I had no support
there _ when I left England I did not consider there was
to go up the country and now I solicit your goodness
when my daughter is sent that I may be sent with
her or what will become of me in a strange country
and no means of supporting myself _ I hope Sir you
will grant me my request in so doing you will do
a great kindness to a poor Widow entirely destitute
in a Foreign country _ Captian Lamb is doing me
the kindness of stoping on board with the family
until I know the result _ my son came out a Settler
in the Chapman and gave for his adress Mr William
Forbes and Mr Bayleys Location _ Cuyler Villa. Great Fish
River. Cape of Good Hope _ at the same time my
solicits the kindness of being sent up the country
as soon as convenient having been on board ever
since April _ your answer to the above will greatly
