The Memorial of Thomas Wells of
Mr Sephtons Party
Humbly Sheweth
That your Memorialist came
to this Colony as a Free Settler and Cultivated
his Land for three years & a half, but
that from repeated disappointments in his
Crops he was Induced with what property
he had left to come and reside in Grahams
Town having a Building Plot Ground there
upon which he has Built himself a Small
House
House and has been in Constant Employ
ever Since residing in Grahams Town Your
Excellencys Memorialist can refer to many
Gentlemen in Grahams Town as to his Character
for Industry and Sobriety
Your Excellencys Memorialist
prays your Excellency would be pleased
to grant him the Loan of Rds 500 for the
purpose of enabling your Memorialist to
Build himself a Substantial House and
otherwise improve his Land
That your Excellency would be
pleased to take this the prayer of Your
Memorialist into consideration and as in
duty bound he will ever pray
