The Memorial of Robert Hughes Humbly
sheweth that your Lordships Memorialist has
succeeded in piloting the Elizabeth Schooner
in, and out of the Kowie River and that he has
made himself perfectly acquainted not only
with the entrance of that River and the intermediate
Coast; But has discovered an excellent
situation wherein case of bad Weather, or
contrary Winds, a Vessel of considerable burthen
May Anchor and ride out the heaviest Gales _.
Your Memorialist has been Master of a Vessel
on the Coasting Trade for many Years, and can
produce the most satisfactory testimonials
of his good Character while filling that situation
from his employers_.
Your Lordships Memorialist is also known
to Captn. Long of the Government Schooner to
whom he begs leave to refer your Lordship.
understanding there is a Vessel now on the Rocks
which is destined for the Kowie. Your Memorialist
humbly prays that your Lordship may be graciously
pleased to appoint him to the command of her and
Your Memorialist as in duty bound will always pray &c .
