To His Excellency the Right Honourable Lord
Charles Henry Somerset, General and Commander
in Chief of the Colony of the Cape of
Good Hope &c. &c. &c. &c.
The Memorial of Thomas Mainman
humbly sheweth
That your memorialist came to
this Colony, in the Party under the direction
of Messrs. Brown & Stubbs from whom
he has obtained his discharge.
That your memorialist having occasion
in the way of business to visit other Districts
contiguous to that of Albany, humbly
requests your Excellency to grant him a
Colonial pass for that purpose, and also
that it may be transmited to Colonel Cuyler
Landdrost of Uitenhage, your memorialist
having been for some time resident in
that District
and your memorialist as in
duty bound shall ever pray &c. &c
