Kolbe, George Augustus

Spanish Reid May 26th .. 1820

Sir,
It is with the utmost Regret; that we
are under the Necessity of applying to You for
your kind Advice, and as we and many of our
Brother Settlers; have already experienced the Benifits
arising from your kind Attention toward us.
We beg leave to state to you Sir, that being informed
that Government had provided Stores for our Accommodation
to be purchased at Prime Cost
We requested Mr Thos.. Owen to procure us a few
Necessary Articles. such as Soap. Sugar &c &c_
He has refused to sign any Receipt; unless we
previously deposit the Money into his hands,
which you are well aware Sir would occasion us
great difficulty as we have secured no more deposit
Money, on which Account we must be
deprived of these most necessary Articles whilst
other enjoy them. .. We have applied to you Sir, resting
entirely on your Kindness, to inform and
assist us, in which manner we had better proceed;
we avail ourselves also of this Opportunity
of assuring you, that we are endevouring to do

all in our Power to cultivate our Land and to
forward the Wishes of Government, but unfortunately
as Individuals are not able to make
such rapid progresses as those Parties who combine
together
Resting solely on your kindness

We Remain
Sir
Your humble Obdt & Obliged
Signed for the Party Servants

A. W. Wall W Stanley

P.S. Mr T Owen has also refused to order us any
more Rations on which Account there are several
large families now destitute of Bread _
