Holditch, Robert
Clan William Septr 25th 1820
Sir
I take the liberty of enclosing to you a
list of Drugs which I supplied the Settlers with during
the East Indian passage from Cove Harbour to Simons
Bay from my own private Stock, trusting that His
Excellency will be pleased to take the same into his
kind consideration as well as the propriety of the
Salary of five hundred Rix dollars taking place
from the period of the Arrival of the East Indian
Transport in Simons Bay.
I have herewith sent two letters of Thanks and an
agreement from which I have not received any benefit
and as the party are now separated and having an
appointment, of course it becomes null _ by it, will
be seen I was to have had a free cabin Mess, the whole
expences of which I bore myself amounting to 30 and
the Medical care of 222 settlers was arduous in the extreme
and the only remuneration were 10.10.0 from Mr Parker
3.5.0 from Mr Francis 1.1.0 from Mr Walter and 1.10.0
from the Revd F.Mc Clenor _ the major part of them
considering I received pay from His Majesty Government
I mention the circumstance of having had valuable
articles stolen whilst on board the East Indian as
tending to have reduced my general Stock and
how very acceptable any sum will be, that
His Excellency might in justice and in his his
wisdom be pleased to direct to be paid me and
which will be ever remembered with sentiments
of gratitude by
Sir,
your devoted and obedt humble
Servant
