Fulgon, George Vernon

To His Excellency Major Genl. Sir Rufane Shawe
Donkin, K.G.B. Commander in Chief & acting Governor
of the Cape of Good Hope _
The Memorial of George Vernon Fulgon.
Humbly Sheweth
That your Memorialist came out to this Colony as a Settler
in the party under the direction of Mr. John Bailie, which party being
subdivided into several smaller ones, he is now in one under the direction
of Mr. T. Flanagan _ That Memorialist paid his own deposit & is under
no agreement whatsoever to any person, he is by profession a West Indian Planter
, and that he was induced to come out under the mistaken notion of the
Sugar Cane thriving here, which not being the case & seeing no prospect of gaining
a livelihood here by his profession, humbly intreats your Excellencys permission
that he may be allowed to proceed from thence to Cape Town, in order to
avail himself of the recommendation he has there for a permanent situation.
And your Memorialist shall be in duty bound to pray for your Excellency
Signd
George Vernon Fulgon
