Cape Town 4 July 1820
Shaws Lodging House
May it please Your Excellency
I have forborne to avail
myself of your Excellencys permission
to wait upon you on other days than
those set apart for Colonial business
But on attending at the Office this
morning I learn with much regret
your Indisposition. during which
nothing should have induced me to
intrude but the urgent necessity I
feel for the honour of an audience
Agreeable to your Suggestion
I have indevoured to inform myself
of some particulars relative to the
interior of

the Colony and have determined with
your Excellencys permission to
proceed there with the least
possible delay _ Having understood
the Locust was about to
Sail for Algoa Bay I am desirous
to solicit a passage for myself
and Family.
Wanting the favor
of an appointment for an interview
with your Excellency
I have the honor
to be Your Excellencys
Most Obt Hble Sevt
