The Memorial of George Belfield, residing in Grahamstown , /
Humbly Sheweth, /
That Memorialist arrived in this Colony in M\r./ Carlisle’s party /
from whose employ he has been discharged, a Copy of which is /
hereunto annexed. /
That Memorialist is a young healthy man who has been occupied /
in the farming line Since his infancy, and can produce ample/
testimonials with regard to his Abilities, honesty, sobriety and /
industry, should your Excellency be pleased to require such /
references. /
That Since Memorialist has resided in the district of Albany /
he has mirely been able to earn a bare subsistence, notwithstanding /
his having paid the most unremitting attention to his busines+s, /
Owing chiefly to the general failure of Crops, and the consequent /
poverty of his employers._ /
Your Memorialist therefore prays your Excellency will /
grant him a Colonial Pass to enable him to earn a /
comfortable livelihood by his industry and attention _ otherwise /
that your Excellency will be pleased to grant him Leave to /
return to England Memorialist defraying his own Expenses /
In acquiescing with either of the requests contained in this Memorial /
Memorialist as in duty bound will ever pray for your /
Excellency and Your Illustrious House. /
