May it please your Excellency
Having expended a
very considerable Capital, in improving
and bringing into a state of cultivation
the portion of Land alloted to us by His
Majestys Government, which Capital owing
to the failure of Crops and other disasters
may be almost accounted lost, it having produced
little or no return, we beg leave to
State the circumstance to Your Lordship,
and as we have been informed by the
District Magistrate, that your Excellency
has thought proper to disspose of certain
Sums of Money by way of Loan, to
persons
To His Excellency
The Rt. Hon. Lord C. H. Somerset
&c. &c. &c.

persons similarly situated, we beg leave
most humbly to request that your
Lordship may be pleased to grant us
the Loan of a Sum to the amount
of half the value of the Location
now in possesion, the Title of which
can serve as security in order to
assist our endevour to procure a
livelihood in this country.
