May it please Your Exelency.
I am one of those Settlers who have from the purist of motives left one of the
Best of Countries flattering myself that a Change through the
unfortunate Pressure of Buisiness in my native land might be more
Promising for the Support of the younger Part of my family. But I
am Sorry to inform your Exelency that with the most diligent atention to the Cultivation of my location has been ineftual. I have Paid
Better than 70 for wages_Plowing fencing and my hous _ and am sorry
to inform your Exelency I have not recd 70 Pence_I have lost by wild
Beasts some 20 in value _ and other losses By damages to a Considerable amont
This Money has arrisen out of Books and other thinks I have sold with the
Exemtion of one third of my deposit _ I Paid 340 and have droun about
X in Tools. But May it Please Your Exelency. I am not affraid But all those
Difficulties may in a little time be Surmounted to the Healthy and young
But I am and has been for near 2 years in a Bad State of Health I broke
of last October but one with a Scorvutter Complaint. I had nearly 30 sores
in one leg _ besides Coverd in most Part of my Body with the Crust. I lay on
Bed 4 months without either nourishment or medcine only Cold water
In Febuary _ the last but one) I was orderd to the Salt water, which killed the
Scorvuy But left a debility of frame which I cannot surmount. I have had
then a Billious Complaint what ever I eat or drink turns acid on my
Stomakch and rises up I have a Perpetual Thirst _and a Complaint in
the urinery Passage _ I get up 6 or 8 Times each night to make water
I am through varied afflictions nearly Blind _ am in my 50 year my
Present family Consists of Seven I Stated to the Honble Capt Somerset
Last year the Precarious state of my health _ I am now worse _ I have
met in Sert Mayor Price a kind Friend or me and family must have
Starved for my all is gone _ These things makes me to lay before your
Exelency my Case _ and Humbly Solicit the fevor to return to my
Native land. and must Crave the kindness to know whether this
Could be effected thrugh the Charity of Government or any
other Charity if in my Power to repay it Back when I arrive
there,
