To His Excellency Sir R. S. Donkin &c,, &c,, &c,,
The Humble Petition of John Barry
late of Mr. Ingrams party of Settlers ; most
humbly Sheweth.
That your Petitioner being
looking for employment Since July, and unable
to get any, is desirous of going into the Country
as far as the Four and Twenty Rivers, where
he thinks he would be employed by a farmer
who desired him to call to him when at
liberty to look for employment.
That as Petitioner has but
a monthly Pass, and is obliged to report himself
at the Fiscalls office every monday ; he felt
it his duty to apply to His M, Fiscall for
permission, before he attempted going into the
Country; and was by him directed to make
application in this way to Your Excellency.
That Petitioner therefore
humbly prays, as his only object, is to earn as
much as will discharge his debt: that Your
Excellency will be graciously pleased to grant
him a Pasport to go into the Country for Six
or eight months, under whatever Restrictions
or conditions Your Excellency may please to
impose, and Petitioner as in duty bound will
ever pray &c. &c. &c.
