The Humble Memorial of Hezikiah /
Sephton, head of a party of Settlers _ /
Most humbly Sheweth: _ That a Settler /
of the party under his direction died before /
disembarkation at Port Elizabeth. By order of the /
Commandant at that place . Memorialist paid the /
whole of the [deposit Money] due to deceased, to his /
widow, which (being a man of a large family) was /
considerable, amounting to 8+ 22_10_ Sterling . _ /
Memorialist has only received one instalment /
of this Sum, 7+ he prays Your Excellency to direct that /
the remaining two third may be reimbursed to him . /
Your Memorialist holds a receipt for the Money signed /
by the Widow, of which the following is a true copy /
May 28\th./ 1820 _ Algoa Bay _ On Board the Brilliant /
Capt. Bothwell . _ Rec\d/ of Hoez\h./ Sephton , in Spanish
dollars fifteen pounds being part of my deposit Money /
paid into the hands of Government by Hoez\h./ Sephton /
8+ 15 _ 0 _ 0 _ Ann Bray . _ This 8+15 is the sum /
due to Memorialist, the 8+7.10 being the first install=ment /
. which was handed over to the Widow as soon /
as received . _ _ /
Your Memorialist further begs leave /
to state on the part of William Miller, a Settler /
in his party ; that the Deposit Money for a Son of /
his named Thomas which son was by uncontrol=lable /
circumstances prevented from /
accompanying /

direct that the remaining two thirds of this sum /
may be repaid to him . _ /
Your Memorialist is also desired to state /
that two children for each of whom the sum of /
8+2..10 Sterling was paid to Government by William /
Prynn 7+ Thomas Holmes both Settlers in this party /
died before Memorialists commenced their pas+sage /
out _ they humbly pray Your Excellency to order that the /
two thirds of this Sum due to them on the account /
may be repaid . _ /
