The Memorial of Mary Griffin Widow /
of Patrick Griffin presently residing at /
Clan William /
Humbly Sheweth /
That your Memorialist came to this /
Colony with her husband a Settler in the /
party of John Ingram Esq _ That her husband /
died about sixteent months since leaving her /
destitute with three young childred the eldest /
of whom is no more than five years of age. /
_ That your Memorialist has depended upon /
the generosity of M\r/ Ingram, for the support /
of herself & her children ever since and which /
that gentleman has afforded to her in the /
most humane manner; but as she understands /
that M\r/ Ingram intends leaving Clan Willian /
in the course of a very short time it is ne=ces+sary /
that she take some means for pro=curing /
that a substistance and as that cannot be /

obtained at Clan William and as she has no /
money to pay the expense of carrying herself /
to Cape Town where she expects by industry to /
be enabled to support her family she humbly /
begs your Excellency will grant a Conveyance /
for her & her family together with three /
children left under her charge by Dennis /
Reardon a poor Man a settler (who has gone /
Cape Town in search of employment) and /
that in the same manner as your Excellency /
granted to Widow Allison and her family /
and your Memorialist will ever pray /
