The humble Memorial of Joseph Goodes, a Settler /
of the party of M\r/ John Bailie /
Sheweth That your Memorialist after much labour on his /
location his means for the purpose for which he came to /
the Colony being nearly exhausted he did with the remains /
of his Property remove into Grahams Town and has /
purchas\d/ Ground for the purpose of Brick making and /
Building which he has followed with considerable ad=vantage /
and finds the demand for his manufactures /
increase beyond his present power to supply; prays /
the as+sistance of Y\r/ Excellency; to exceed his Trade /
Y\r/ Memorialist has been hitherto under the heavy ex=penses /
to others of Waggon Hire which Y\t/ Exc\y/ /
must perceive much les+sens the proceeds he has /
reason to expect /
The purport of Y\r/ Memorialist is, to ask your /
Excellency may be pleased to consider him entitled to /
a Share of the help Y\r/ Exc\y/ is now distributing, by /
way of Loan to the amount of Five Hundred Rix dollars /
Y\r/ Memorialist is desirous to purchase a Waggon /
and span of Oxen for the conveyance of his /
materials, the remainder of the purchase money (beyond /
the request) believes he can himself produce /
Y\r/ Memorialist has already rais\d/ Two Houses = /

he has not forfeited or abandoned it being still /
