Humbly sheweth /
That Your Memorialist /
Having come to this Colony under /
the expectation of supporting him=self /
and family by Agriculture /
with the as+sistance of his Pension /
yet through the failure of Crops /
and the Flood of 1823 Your /
Memorialist has been compelled /
to leave his Location and live /
in Grahams Town and with /

purchased two Building Lots of /
Ground situated in this Town /
Your Memorialist therefore /
prays Your Excellency will be /
graciously pleased to grant /
him a Loan of Five Hundred /
Rix Dollars to enable him to /
build a House upon the Ground /

that he fought in this Countrys /
