I beg pardon for the /
liberty I have taking in thus addressing you _ /
My daughter is on board the Ship Sappho now lying /
In Simon’s Bay with four small children the eldest /
only six years old which it would have been totaly /
out of her power to have taken care of them herself, and /
my Son which is the only child I have living and now /
become a Settler in this country I have taken care of
his family during his absence which has reduced /
me so that I am not able to pay my passage up the /
Country _ I sold every thing to get here as my Son wrote /
me to come with his family. knowing I had no support /
there _ when I left England I did not consider there was /
to go up the country and now I solicit your goodnes+s /
when my daughter is sent that I may be sent with /
her or what will become of me in a strange country /
and no means of supporting myself _ I hope Sir you /
will grant me my request in so doing you will do /
a great kindnes+s to a poor Widow entirely destitute /
in a Foreign country _ Captian Lamb is doing me /
the kindnes+s of stoping on board with the family /
until I know the result _ my son came out a Settler /
in the Chapman and gave for his adres+s Mr William /
