Hughes, Robert

To His Excellency the Right Hon. General /
Lord Charles Henry Somerset. 7+c. 7+c. 7+c. /
The Memorial of Robert Hughes Humbly /
sheweth that your Lordships Memorialist has /
succeeded in piloting the Elizabeth Schooner /
in, and out of the Kowie River and that he has /
made himself perfectly acquainted not only /
with the entrance of that River and the intermediate /
Coast; But has discovered an excellent /
situation where in case of bad Weather, or /
contrary Winds, a Ves+sel of considerable burthen /
May Anchor and ride out the heaviest Gales _. /
Your Memorialist has been Master of a Ves+sel /
on the Coasting Trade for many Years, and can /
produce the most satisfactory testimonials /
of his good Character while filling that situation /
from his employers_. /
Your Lordships Memorialist is also known /
to Cap\tn./ Long of the Government Schooner to /
whom he begs leave to refer your Lordship. /
understanding there is a Ves+sel now on the Rocks /
which is destined for the Kowie. Your Memorialist /
humbly prays that your Lordship may be graciously /
pleased to appoint him to the command of her and /
Your Memorialist as in duty bound will always pray 7+c . /
