May it please Your Excellency /
Having been Acquainted that Your /
Excellency is granting loans of Cash at pr /
annum to the English Settlers to further their /
views in the improvement of their locations /
their forming a more adequate stock to their /
establishments and promising that such /
as+sistance might be of great advantage to /
myself I take the liberty of asking if Your /
Excellency will grant me a loan of 5000 RDs /
at pr annum for 5 or 7 years to be re=paid /
after that period by instalments. /
Your Excellency will be pleased to bear in /
mind that my location is indebted to /
Government for rations in the sum of /
178 RD only and as my neighbours remain /
indebted on same account to very large amounts /
thereunto only be putting me on equal terms /
>
with them by granting me the loan requested /
and I can as+sure Your Excellency that my /
los+ses in various ways amount to more /
than that sum. /
I request the honour of a reply as soon /
as convenient and remain most /
respectfully /
Your Excellency’s /
